Amber Guyger, Ex-Dallas Officer Who Killed Neighbor Botham Jean, Granted Parole After Seven Years

Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger, convicted in 2019 of murdering her unarmed neighbor Botham Jean in his own apartment, was granted parole on Oct. 1 after a review by the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole, according to wire reports.

Guyger was found guilty in 2019 of fatally shooting Botham Jean in 2018 and was serving a 10-year prison sentence. The case drew national attention during a period of heightened scrutiny of policing in America.
