WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump told supporters at the Lincoln Memorial on Monday, the day before the midterm elections, that if Republicans win, every adult will get $5,000 — with one condition: the money has to be spent in the United States.
He pointed to the $1,776 payments sent to U.S. troops. “Also, as you know, and I say it because we’ve done it with 1776 for our soldiers, $1,776. And our soldiers got that. But we’re going to do, if we win the election, everybody is going to get $5,000. Every adult is going to get $5,000. But you have to spend it in the United States of America.”
Trump spoke beside the Reflecting Pool at an Election Eve event in Washington. He did not say in these remarks how the payments would be funded or when they would be sent. Video: RSBN.
