Sam Forstag, a Democrat, has won Montana’s 1st Congressional District. The Associated Press called the race for Forstag on Thursday morning.

The final unofficial count gives Forstag 132,003 votes. Republican Aaron Flint received 122,694 votes, and Libertarian Nick Sheedy received 7,522. Forstag’s margin is 9,309 votes. The figures are the same in the counts reported by the Associated Press, Decision Desk HQ and the Montana Secretary of State’s results dashboard, with all 346 precincts in the district fully reported.

Flint conceded on election night, Tuesday.

The results are still unofficial. Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen said provisional ballots will be counted on Monday afternoon, November 9, before the post-election audit and the county canvass, and that results remain unofficial until they are canvassed. At a margin of 9,309 votes, the provisional ballots cannot change the outcome.

Across Montana, 486,746 people voted out of 808,879 registered voters, a turnout of 60.18 percent, according to the Secretary of State’s office.
