Isaacman: Moon Missions Future Administrations Can “Dial Up or Down”

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, answering a budget question at the November 7, 2026 Moon Base news conference: “You give future administrations the option of how they can dial up or down missions as it comes. You know, as opposed to, again, a $25 billion type program that the answer for every budget cycle will be, let’s just shift a few more things to the right to make it fit. And then you get really nowhere and it costs more.”

Isaacman, a businessman who has flown to space twice on private missions, leads NASA, which is building its Moon Base program, the plan for a lasting American presence on the Moon. He was answering a budget question at the agency’s Moon Base news conference on November 7, 2026. His point was that the program is being built in stages, so a future administration can expand it or scale it back as budgets and priorities change, rather than being locked into one fixed plan. The full question and answer are in the clip above.
