President Donald Trump is giving the public a rare look at how his latest TIME magazine cover came together — and it’s a record-breaking one.
The White House on Oct. 3 released a 22-second behind-the-scenes video of the cover shoot, showing Trump posing on the new White House helipad as photographer Dan Winters works the cameras. The shoot took place Sept. 28 on the newly built 100-foot helipad on the South Lawn.
The portrait leads TIME’s Oct. 26, 2026 issue, titled “Trump’s Way,” featuring an interview with TIME’s Eric Cortellessa. It is Trump’s 56th TIME cover — more than any other individual in the magazine’s history, surpassing the record held for decades by President Richard Nixon. The White House celebrated the milestone in an Oct. 1 post, calling Trump TIME’s “cover king.”
