President Donald Trump declined to say what his administration’s next step on Iran would be, telling reporters the situation was “working out very well” — and predicting the conflict would not last long.
Asked what his next step regarding Iran would be as he departed the White House for Alabama on Friday, Trump said: “Well, if I told you, you’d have a major story, right? But you’ll see. Working out very well. Iran is not doing well.”
The president did not elaborate on what action his administration was considering, or give a timetable.
The remarks came during the same South Lawn departure gaggle in which Trump addressed energy supplies — saying Europe had agreed to release more diesel into the global market at his request and ruling out a U.S. diesel export ban, which he said “we were never gonna do.” He predicted oil prices would fall back once the Iran situation ends: “We’re gonna have a lot of oil very shortly, as soon as Iran ends, which won’t be long.”
