CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (Zark News) President Donald Trump told workers at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Friday that Republicans would have won the midterm elections if his name had been on the ballot.
“By the way, I was not on the ballot, just in case you had any question,” he said. “Because if we were on the ballot, we would have won. But we weren’t.”
Trump spoke three days after Democrats won control of both the House and the Senate in Tuesday’s elections. In the same passage, he said the stock market’s reaction to the results had cost the country about $3 trillion. He also pointed to the October jobs report, saying the economy added 165,000 jobs in the month, including 19,000 manufacturing jobs.
The remarks came during an appearance at the space center tied to the administration’s space program. Video: RSBN.
The appearance came three days after the midterm elections, in which Democrats won control of both the House and the Senate. The president’s claim that Republicans would have won with him on the ballot is one his party will debate as it shapes its message for the next Congress and the elections that follow.
