Pakistan Strikes Drone Sites in Afghanistan as Kabul Reports Four Civilians Killed

ISLAMABAD/KABUL, Sept. 24, 2026 — Pakistan said it carried out air strikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan that it described as sites used to store and launch drones, while Afghan officials said four civilians were killed in the attacks.

Pakistan said the strikes followed the detection and neutralization of drones launched from Afghan territory. Taliban officials in Afghanistan denied that their government launched drones against Pakistan, according to Reuters.

The competing accounts could not be independently reconciled immediately. Zark News is attributing the casualty figure and responsibility claims to the officials making them.

Escalating cross-border tensions

The strikes mark a further escalation in tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan after fighting and cross-border attacks intensified this month. Pakistan has accused armed groups operating from Afghanistan of threatening its security, while Afghan authorities have rejected or disputed some Pakistani allegations and protested strikes on Afghan territory.

The latest episode raises the risk of further retaliation along a border already affected by militant violence, military operations and recurring diplomatic disputes.

Zark News will update this report as additional independently verified information or official responses become available.
