Nelson Mandela Foundation and Free AF Launch “The Free Project” With 50 of the World’s Most Inspiring People

The Nelson Mandela Foundation has partnered with non-alcoholic drinks company Free AF on “The Free Project,” a book, film and exhibition in which 50 of the world’s most interesting and inspiring people share their personal paths to freedom. Inspired by Nelson Mandela’s ethos — “Free yourself. Free others. Serve every day” — the project brings together actors and producers LaTanya and Samuel L. Jackson, singer-songwriter Mon Rovîa, actors Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Jurnee Smollett, James Beard Award-winning chef Gregory Gourdet, researcher and podcaster Kayla Barnes-Lentz, and actor and producer Theo Rossi, among many others. Free AF founder Lisa King created the project with publisher and filmmaker Blackwell & Ruth, creative collective The Tuesday Club and photographer Magdalena Wosinska. The project was announced September 22, 2026.
