Search Executed Early Monday

Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant at Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home in the Washington, D.C. area in the pre-dawn hours Monday, the Department of Justice said in a statement.

“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation.”

The Associated Press, citing people familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the search was conducted by HSI agents as part of a criminal investigation. The Justice Department did not disclose what investigators sought or recovered.

Immigration Paperwork Probe

Fox News Digital, which first reported the search, cited sources close to the investigation saying it stems from an alleged criminal fraud investigation into the Somali-born congresswoman’s immigration paperwork — documents reportedly filled out by her late father when she was a child. That sourcing has not been independently confirmed.

Omar’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment. No charges have been announced, and neither the Justice Department nor HSI has publicly disclosed specific allegations.

Escalation of Ongoing Probe

The search marks a significant escalation. In September, White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed federal authorities were conducting a criminal investigation into Omar but declined to discuss specifics. Omar, 44, has been a frequent target of President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly attacked the Somali American community in Minnesota.

Omar represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis. First elected to the House in 2018, she is one of the progressive lawmakers known as “the Squad.”

This is a developing story. Updates to follow as DOJ or Omar statements are released.
