Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on Friday launched the Chaplain In-Service Procurement Program, a new path that lets active-duty troops train as chaplains without leaving the service.
Under the program, a service member with a bachelor’s degree who feels called to the chaplaincy can stay in uniform, keep pay and benefits, and earn a graduate theological degree with tuition covered by their service branch, then return as a chaplain. “President Trump’s Department of War will not make you choose between the uniform and your calling,” Hegseth said.
