Arizona Helicopter Crew Rescues Driver From Overturned Truck in Raging Floodwater

TONOPAH, Ariz. — A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office helicopter crew rescued a driver stranded on an overturned pickup as rapidly rising floodwater surrounded the vehicle near Tonopah, Arizona, on Sept. 29.

The rescue unfolded near 327th Avenue and Salome Highway. Arizona Fire & Medical Authority crews found a silver Toyota Tacoma on its side in the wash with a man on top of the vehicle, about 30 feet from the shoreline, according to local reporting citing responding agencies.
