Governor Greg Abbott had led Texas for more than a decade when he lost to Gina Hinojosa on election night, part of a Democratic sweep that also took the state House for the first time in more than twenty years. The two speeches in this video were given separately on the same night and were not a debate. Abbott spoke in Austin and accepted the result. Hinojosa told her supporters that their government belongs to them. Zark News presents the two moments side by side so that viewers can hear each candidate in their own words. Both recordings are from C-SPAN.
