The shooting happened on Tuesday afternoon in Spangle, a small town south of Spokane. The sheriff’s office said a woman ran to a neighbor’s house and said her brother had shot her. Deputies who answered the call came under fire. One deputy died on Tuesday night, and a second was placed on life support and was not expected to survive. The county SWAT team was sent to the home after deputies learned the suspect had felony warrants and access to more guns, and that other victims might still be inside. Four people died in all, and officials said the number could rise.
