President Trump turned the unrest in France into the closing argument of his midterm rally in Wichita, Kansas, on Monday, October 19, 2026. “When you see burning steeples and raging fires in France, just remember that is what the radical Democrats want to do to America,” he told the crowd at the Heartland Credit Union Arena. “They expect to do it. They’re not going to come close.”
France has endured days of rioting that led Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu’s government to impose curfews across French cities and weigh a state of emergency. Trump told supporters he had warned President Emmanuel Macron directly: “Close your border or you will lose France.”
