Shapiro won a second term as Pennsylvania’s governor, in a race the AP called at 8:01 p.m. ET.
Josh Shapiro, 53, has run Pennsylvania since 2023. Before that he spent six years as the state’s attorney general, where he built a national profile with investigations into the Catholic Church’s handling of child abuse and into opioid makers. Earlier he served on the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners and in the state House.
His comfortable re-election keeps one of the Democratic Party’s best-known governors in place in the country’s biggest swing state. Shapiro is often named as a possible presidential candidate in 2028, and winning big at home strengthens that talk.
Pennsylvania voters have now backed him in four straight statewide races. Watch whether he steps further onto the national stage — and how he handles a state budget fight at home with a divided legislature.
