Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters of the Florida Army National Guard staged at Tallahassee International Airport on October 9, 2026, hours before Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin as a Category 2 storm with 105-mile-per-hour winds.
Crews Pre-Positioned Across the Panhandle
Guard soldiers worked alongside civilian search-and-rescue teams, pre-positioning aircraft and crews across the Florida Panhandle before the storm came ashore. The footage, released by the U.S. Army, shows coordination with the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue team (FL-TF2).
