“Don’t Boo — Vote”: Obama Turns a Booing Crowd Into a Chant

Barack Obama turned a booing crowd into a chant at the United for Georgia rally in Atlanta: “Don’t boo — vote.” He told supporters the officials they were booing cannot hear them — but they can hear their vote. (Oct. 28, 2026 · Video: AP)

Context

Do not boo, vote is one of Obama’s signature lines. He first made it famous during the 2016 campaign, and he has brought it back at rallies ever since, whenever a crowd boos a Republican name. The point is always the same: booing changes nothing, voting changes everything. In Atlanta, six days before the November 3 midterms, the line did double duty. It quieted the crowd and turned the moment into a turnout message. Georgia’s races are close enough that small shifts in turnout can decide them, which is why both parties have sent their biggest names into the state in the final week.
