Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed opened his remarks at the CONNECT Arab America Empowerment Summit in Chantilly, Virginia, on November 6 with an introduction that drew a long round of applause. It was his first speech after winning Michigan’s Senate race on November 3.
“My name is Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, and I’m honored to be the next United States Senator from the great state of Michigan, which, of course, I know we’re here in D.C., which, of course, is the capital of the United States of America, but Michigan is the capital of Arab America,” he said.
