Watch: Melania Trump Announces $7.2 Million LSU Scholarship Endowment

First Lady Melania Trump announces a $7.2 million Fostering the Future scholarship endowment at Louisiana State University for students who experienced foster care, during an event in Baton Rouge on Saturday.

The endowment was announced at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge on Saturday, November 7. The 7.2 million dollars will fund scholarships for students who grew up in foster care. The gift sits under Fostering the Future, the First Lady’s initiative for young people who age out of the foster system, which works on education, housing and jobs support. Students who experienced foster care often reach college without family support behind them, and the endowment is meant to cover costs that other aid does not reach. Melania Trump has made Fostering the Future the center of her work as First Lady. The White House released the video of the announcement the same day.
