Lamont won a third term as Connecticut’s governor, extending a run that began in 2019.

Ned Lamont, 72, made his money in cable television, building a company that wired college campuses and media businesses. He first made national news in 2006, when he beat Sen. Joe Lieberman in a Democratic primary over the Iraq War — then lost the general election when Lieberman ran as an independent. He lost a governor’s primary in 2010 before finally winning the office in 2018.

As governor he has sold himself as a steady hand on the state’s finances, paying down pension debt that piled up over decades. Connecticut voters have now trusted him with the job three times.

A third term makes Lamont one of the longest-serving governors in the Northeast. Watch whether he uses it on the state’s two sore spots: high electricity bills and a housing shortage.
