Accountability is Zark News’ investigative series. We start with public records — inspection data, permitting logs, official oversight reports — and put what we find to the officials responsible, in writing, before anything is published. Every investigation in this series carries the subject’s response. When a subject does not respond by our stated deadline, the story says so, plainly, and is updated if a reply arrives later.
How we work
- Written questions, sent before publication, with a stated deadline.
- Responses carried fairly — in the story, in the subject’s own terms.
- No response by the deadline: we publish on schedule and note it.
- Corrections and late responses update the story, and the update is recorded here.
