A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew hoisted an ailing 32-year-old crew member from the cruise ship Allure of the Seas in a nighttime medical evacuation about 58 nautical miles northwest of Puerto Rico on Sept. 24, 2026.
The MH-60T Jayhawk crew flew the man, who was suffering from severe chronic abdominal pain, to Buen Samaritano Hospital in Aguadilla for emergency care, the Coast Guard said.
The dramatic hoist, captured on the helicopter’s camera, shows the rescue basket being lowered to the ship’s helipad and raised back to the aircraft in darkness.
The Coast Guard released the footage on Sept. 25. Footage: U.S. Coast Guard via DVIDS (public domain).
